Povolání postav
V Lords of Xulima existuje pouze jedna hratelná rasa a tou jsou lidé. Ti pak mají k dispozici na výběr z devíti povolání, která jsou odvozena od 3 hlavních směrů - The Realm of Energy (znalci elementární energie), The Realm of Divinity (znalci božských sil) a The Realm of Mentalism (znalci klasického boje).

Ve hře je to však o kousek komplikovanější. Původní myšlenkou vývojářů bylo, že by hra neumožňovala uživatelskou tvorbu družiny, ale začínalo by se s předpřipravenými charaktery. Nakonec došlo k ústupku a zůstalo jen u jedné povinné postavy, kterou je explorer Gaulen. Zbytek družiny je volitelný. Díky komunitnímu financování se navíc podařilo získat finance na vývoj úplně nového povolání - Divine Summonera (na pomoc si v boji vyvolává heraldy jednotlivých bohů Xulimy), takže se to celé nakonec vyřešilo tak, že samotné povolání Explorera z možnosti volby vypadlo a nahradil ho právě Divine Summoner. Explorera tak můžete mít v družině jen jednoho.
Realita tedy vypadá takto:
Každé povolání má k dispozici určitý počet skillů (dovedností), mezi nimiž nechybí specializace specifické jen pro to dané povolání a řada společných specializací. Navenek by se mohlo zdát, že máme k dispozici absolutní volnost, jakým směrem budeme postavu rozvíjet, ale hra má pro nás hned několik omezení. Postava dostává v základu za levelup 4 dovednostní body, které můžeme libovolně investovat. Ovšem disciplíny nesouvisející přímo s naším povoláním nás vyjdou výrazně dráž (čím vzdálenější je dovednost od povolání, tím bude dražší). Odemknutí nové dovednosti navíc stojí o jeden dovednostní bod navíc a každou dovednost smíme během levelup zvýšit jen o 1 úroveň! K tomu si ještě přidejde, že řada dovedností je zároveň vázána na konkrétní level postavy. Rozhodně se tedy vyplatí investovat hlavně do klíčových dovedností pro povolání (stojí obvykle jen 1 dovednostní bod za úroveň).
Hra má pro nás samozřejmě připravenu určitou kompenzaci. Dovednostní body nad rámec levelup lze dokupovat u trenéra, akorát to časem leze dost do peněz. Další možností je konzumace houby jménem Ramaria (za 10 ks lze získat 1 bod), nebo pitím magické tekutiny (lime color) v obřadních mísách (cauldronech). Pár bodů lze získat i jako bonus za některé úkoly.
A teď k jednotlivým povoláním a orientaci v tabulkách níže. Modře jsou v tabulkách označeny defaultní dovednosti (tzv. Initial Skills). Tedy ty, které má postava s příslušným povoláním naučené od počátku. Na jejich zvýšení o 1 úroveň je potřeba přesně tolik bodů, kolik je v tabulce vedle názvu dovednosti uvedeno. Všechny postavy, vyjma Barbarian a Soldier, začínají s Initial Skills na úrovni 1. Barbarian a Soldier je mají totiž už na úrovni 2 (krom Rage u barbara, ta je též na 1). Pokud jde navíc o zbraňové dovednosti, u nich dostanete při tvorbě postavy na výběr, kterou z nich jakoby upřednostníte a podle toho vám hra na počátku přidělí příslušnou zbraň (neplatí to pro dovednost Shurikens, protože shurikeny nejsou zbraň v pravém slova smyslu, ale spotřební zboží, které je potřeba dokupovat).
Černě jsou vyznačené ty dovednosti, které se postava bude muset v průběhu levelup teprve naučit - pro první úroveň si proto k příslušnému číslu přičtěte o ten jeden dovednostní bod navíc (viz výše). Poslední věcí je závislost dovednosti na konkrétním levelu postavy, která je uvedena zkratkou Lv. a příslušným číslem. Pro úplnost proto dva příklady (vezmeme si hned povolání Arcane Soldier, ať nemusíte příliš scrollovat).
Př.: Lv. 1 Bows and Crossbows 2, je modře vyznačená dovednost, postava jí tedy umí už od počátku (proto i to označení Lv. 1) a na zvýšení o 1 úroveň potřebujeme konstantně 2 dovednostní body.
Př.: Lv. 8 Learning 2, je černě označená, postava jí tedy ještě neumí a jen tak ani umět nebude. Lv. 8 totiž znamená, že se zpřístupní postavě až od levelu 8. Na její naučení budeme potřebovat celkem 3 dovednostní body, při dalším levelup už to budou konstantně jen ty 2 dovednostní body.
Arcane Soldier
 |
Arcane soldiers believe that power is achieved through mastery of both steel and magic. While an Arcane soldier cannot wear equipment as easily as the Soldier, they make up for it by imbuing their weapon of choice with powerful elemental magic, allowing them to deliver blows which are effective against most enemies. |

They have an affinity towards picking locks, as well as spotting and disarming lethal traps. In addition , the thief's cunning allows him to perceive secret doors and hidden switches which most would miss. In combat, they favor fast strikes and mobility. |
